It's only taken 8 years to send this first update—we think we finally have enough to say that people might be interested to read. Not convinced that's true? At least give us a couple of shots before unsubscribing. Better yet, send me a note to let us know what you'd like to see in future messages!
In the spirit of this being our first Newsletter, we thought we'd share some lessons learned about the the first industry we did work in as Uptech Studio, Telematics. In 2016 that first collaboration was with Driveway (since acquired by Earnix), to create a white label platform that powered the Farmers Insurance Signal mobile app. The Signal app is still in action—it analyzes driver behavior in real-time to determine eligibility for insurance discounts, creating a win-win for both Farmers and safe drivers. Check out our Driveway Case Study →
After Driveway, we partnered with Verizon Connect, focusing on elevating their user experience and design to transform complex telematics data into intuitive interfaces that fleet managers actually enjoy using. Check out our Verizon Connect Case Study →
Currently, we're working with Phillips Connect to build innovative software solutions that leverage their hardware—smart connectors and sensors for tractor trailers. We're helping translate hardware capabilities into software tools that provide actionable insights for drivers and fleet operators.
Navigating the complexities that come with creating enterprise-grade solutions and tricky hardware-software integrations is challenging, and along the way we've learned how how to design and develop user-friendly software that truly benefits our partners and their customers.

When we talk with startup founders, we're constantly encouraging them to stay focused. They need to demonstrate that they can solve one specific problem before setting out to build a generic platform that tries to do it all. So, it's exciting to see Codecks come along—a little project management tool (think basic JIRA) purpose built for game development teams, but with some interesting "gamified" ways of tackling project management.
Every couple of weeks we host an internal internal brown bag session on a topic that someone finds interesting that they want to share with the rest of the company. Last week, Jon did a presentation about Deno and how it is different from NodeJS.
One of the best parts about having done this for 8 years is that we've met a lot of really great people. While we can't hide that a Newsletter is largely about shameless self promotion, we are excited to make connections for other folks in the industry who we know and trust.
